In my devotional "It's Worth It" I wrote about a song called "Hollow" by Tori Kelly.
I thought it would be fun and fitting to do a cover of Hollow and decided to mash it up with James Bay's "Hold Back the River" with the help of a talented friend, Louisa Wendorff.
We all have a hollow space inside our hearts that craves to be filled. I know I sometimes try to fill that space up with things that I think will satisfy like: acceptance, status, jobs, friendships, love, success, a feeling, a moment, but they always leave me feeling emptier than before--they leave me hollow.
"Hold back the river"--hold back the chaos and everything vying for my attention and battling to fill the hollow space inside, to lock eyes with the only one who can truly satisfy--Jesus. Only your love can fill up my cup.
In John 4: 13-14 Jesus says: "everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I will give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
